Security chief starts bay area trip

Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung started his two-day trip to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area today by calling on the municipal public security bureaus of Zhaoqing and Foshan as well as visiting a local enterprise.

 

Mr Tang arrived in Zhaoqing this morning and called on Zhaoqing Vice Mayor and Municipal Public Security Bureau Director-General Dong Xinqi.

 

In the afternoon, Mr Tang went to Foshan to call on Foshan Vice Mayor Huang Shaowen.

 

The security chief exchanged views with representatives of the two cities on issues including combatting cross-boundary crimes and strengthening emergency management to deepen co-operation.

 

He introduced the new emergency response plan formulated by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to establish a more systematic operational mechanism to enhance support and co-operation in overall emergency response operations among the bay area cities.

 

Mr Tang also visited the Zhaoqing Xpeng Motors Intelligent Industrial Park to learn more about the development of smart electric vehicles.

 

He will continue his visit in Zhongshan tomorrow.
