Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn today announced that the Government will sell two residential sites by tender in the July-September quarter, providing about 1,740 flats.
Unveiling the Land Sale Programme for the second quarter of this financial year, Ms Linn said the two sites are in Kai Tak and Tung Chung that will provide about 1,325 and 415 flats respectively.
The site in Kai Tak is close to MTR Sung Wong Toi Station, while the one in Tung Chung is the first residential site to be put up for sale in the Tung Chung New Town Extension.
For the Kai Tak site, Ms Lin noted that the land sale condition will require the developer to construct about 175m of an underground shopping street, which is around 11% of Kai Tak underground shopping street by length.
The developer should also build social welfare facilities of around 8,100 sq m, including a neighbourhood elderly centre, a hostel and a day activity centre, she added.
“This shows the Government’s determination, in recent years, to expedite the provision of social welfare facilities for the community through suitable land sale sites.”
Lease modifications of 11 private development projects are expected to be completed within the quarter, offering around 2,310 flats.
Taking all sources into account, the total private housing supply in the second quarter will involve about 4,050 units.
Together with the supply in the first quarter, the total supply in the first half of this financial year will amount to some 8,280 flats, reaching around 65% per cent of the annual target.
The development chief added that the Government will adopt a multipronged approach to increase land supply and continue its efforts in providing steady land supply for development.
