More points for recyclers in July
The Environmental Protection Department is launching a campaign, EXTRA GREEN$ Daily Rewards, to allow members of the public to earn additional GREEN$ points for recycling in July.
Announcing the campaign, which coincides with celebrations marking the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the department said today that it would encourage the public to integrate recycling practices into daily life.
Under the scheme, participants can earn an extra 20 GREEN$ points daily and earn six times the normal points for designated recyclables by weight when they recycle via the GREEN@COMMUNITY network during the promotion period.
Those who participate in food waste recycling using Smart Food Waste Bins can also gain an additional 26 GREEN$ points daily.
There are currently 11 recycling stations, 33 recycling stores, more than 120 recycling spots, and around 60 smart recycling bins application points in Hong Kong, covering large housing estates, public rental housing (PRH) estates, villages, shopping malls, universities and government venues.
Two of the stores in PRH estates, GREEN@KWAI FONG and GREEN@TAI WO HAU, commenced services on June 26.
Additionally, pilot domestic food waste collection schemes have begun in some PRH estates and private housing estates, with Smart Food Waste Bins being installed for clean and hygienic collections.
