Chief Executive John Lee today met Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee Yi Lianhong to exchange views on deepening Hong Kong's co-operation with Zhejiang.

Mr Lee welcomed Mr Yi's visit to Hong Kong with his delegation to organise the Hong Kong & Macau - Zhejiang Week 2023 and witness the signing of a co-operation agreement and a number of memoranda of understanding between both places.

Mr Lee stressed that he hopes Hong Kong and Zhejiang will start a new phase in co-operation on all fronts through high-level collaboration and exchanges.

The Chief Executive said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government set up the Zhejiang Liaison Unit in 2017 to actively promote exchanges between the two places in various aspects and he thanked the People's Government of Zhejiang for its support to the liaison unit’s work.

Apart from pointing out that Hong Kong is the largest source of foreign direct investment in Zhejiang and the platform for enterprises to list outside the province, Mr Lee added that the city is also one of the preferred locations for Zhejiang enterprises to explore foreign markets.

Noting that Zhejiang is a major powerhouse of the economy and local enterprises, Mr Lee emphasised that Hong Kong and Zhejiang must be able to achieve complementarity through close co-operation.

He also expressed the hope that both places will continue collaboration in areas including finance, aviation, culture and tourism and seize opportunities arising from the National 14th Five-Year Plan to foster synergistic development.
