6 arrested for seditious intention
Police's National Security Department today arrested three men and three women, aged between 33 and 64, in various districts on suspicion of conspiracy to forgery, contravening sections 159A and 71 of the Crimes Ordinance.
Among them, a 33-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman were also suspected of doing an act or acts with seditious intention, contravening sections 9 and 10 of the ordinance.
Investigations revealed that the six arrested people were suspected of forging signatures on documents.
The 33-year-old man and the 64-year-old woman were suspected of endangering national security by repeatedly publishing posts with seditious intention on social media platforms which brought hatred against the central authorities and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, advocated Hong Kong independence and incited the use of violence.
Police conducted searches at the arrested people's residences with court warrants, seizing some electronic communication devices and related documents.
The six arrested people are being detained for further enquiries.
The force reminds the public that doing an act or acts with seditious intention is a serious crime and offenders are liable to two years' imprisonment on first conviction.
