Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho continued her trip to Beijing today by paying a visit to the National Development & Reform Commission, meeting urban planning officials and touring housing projects.

 

Calling on the commission this morning to learn about its work in national economic development, she met Pan Jiang, its International Cooperation Department Deputy Director-General and Director General of International Affairs Department, Office of the Leading Group for Promoting Belt & Road Initiative.

 

Ms Ho said she will lead the Housing Bureau to strengthen connections with the Mainland, grasp the opportunities brought about by Greater Bay Area development, take part in the Belt & Road Initiative, and actively play a bridging role to better integrate into the national development.

 

The housing chief also met China Academy of Urban Planning & Design President Wang Kai to know more about the academy’s work in promoting urban policy formulation. They exchanged ideas on land use, housing planning and community development, while Ms Ho also shared Hong Kong’s work in public housing management and building the housing ladder.

 

She later paid a visit to state-owned enterprise Beijing Public Housing Center and toured its indemnificatory housing projects, including restaurants and other shared facilities.

 

Ms Ho will conclude her visit to the capital and return to Hong Kong tomorrow.
