The Government announced today that it received an investigation report from Hongkong Electric Company (HEC) regarding a power supply incident that affected some areas on Hong Kong Island on April 19 and the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) is examining the content.

The Government explained that with assistance from an independent third-party expert, the EMSD is carefully examining the report, including assessing whether the identified case is well-founded and whether rectification measures are appropriate. 

Apart from stressing that it is very concerned about the incident and has been following up closely with HEC on the latest developments, the Government stressed that after the occurrence, it requested HEC to conduct an in-depth investigation.

 
The Government urges HEC to carry out improvement measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Furthermore, the EMSD will continue to monitor the implementation of remedial measures by HEC.
