Second youth hostel project approved
The Home & Youth Affairs Bureau today announced that it has approved the second project under the Subsidy Scheme for Using Hotels & Guesthouses as Youth Hostels.
The youth hostel, launched by the Y.Elites Association with Nina Hospitality, is in Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West, with 100 rooms to provide up to 200 hostel places with communal facilities such as cooking facilities.
The project will enable young tenants to further their studies outside workplaces to enhance their skillsets and scale up employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
It will also deepen their understanding of the country's history, culture and arts through the Y.Elites Association's membership network. The association has partnered with Nina Hotel to allow the tenants to use some of the hotel facilities at affordable prices.
Noting that the project is centrally located in the New Territories West and close to rail links and large-scale malls, the bureau said it is accessible and well connected with community facilities in the district, thereby facilitating the travel of young tenants and their participation in outreach activities.
The bureau will continue to collaborate with non-governmental organisations and relevant stakeholders who share the vision of inspiring youths and brightening the city's future.
