Choi Yuk-lin visits Guangdong
Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin today started her visit to Dongguan and Guangzhou where she met Hong Kong youngsters studying in the Mainland.
Ms Choi first called on the Affiliated School of JNU for Hong Kong & Macao Students in Dongguan and the Affiliated School of JNU for Hong Kong & Macao Students in Guangzhou. She toured the campus facilities, and observed classes and school activities. She also spoke to the principals, teachers and students to understand more about the study situation of Hong Kong pupils in the Mainland.
The education chief was pleased to know that the two schools, tying in with the development of the Greater Bay Area, offer a through-train curriculum for 15-year pre-primary to upper secondary education that helps children of Hong Kong people pursue studies in the bay area cities.
Ms Choi also visited the Support & Development Centre for Hong Kong & Macao Youths in Mainland China. Through a dialogue with Hong Kong students and graduates of Mainland higher education institutions, she learnt about their academic and career development, and encouraged them to work hard as well as build up networks both in the Mainland and in Hong Kong, with a view to seizing the opportunities brought by the National 14th Five-Year Plan and bay area development, and integrating into the country’s overall development.
Over the next couple of days, Ms Choi will lead a delegation to visit Qianhai and Nansha to inspect the arrangements for Mainland study tours of the Citizenship & Social Development senior secondary subject.
