GBA job scheme regularised

March 1, 2023

The Government today announced the launch of the regularised Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme, under which enterprises may submit job vacancies via the scheme's website from today to employ Hong Kong young people to work in the Mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It pointed out that the pilot scheme, launched in January 2021, received favourable feedback from participating enterprises and young people.

The Chief Executive announced in his Policy Address last year that the scheme would be regularised to encourage more enterprises to offer jobs and support young people to work in Mainland cities of the bay area, so as to foster their career development and the exchange of talent in the area.

Enterprises with businesses in both Hong Kong and Mainland cities of the bay area are eligible to take part in the scheme. They should employ eligible graduates in accordance with Hong Kong laws, offer them a monthly salary of not less than $18,000 and station them in such Mainland cities to work and receive on-the-job training.

The Government will grant a monthly allowance of $10,000 to enterprises for each graduate employed up to 18 months.

For the young people who wish to participate in the scheme, they must be Hong Kong residents lawfully employable in Hong Kong and awarded bachelor's degrees or above from 2021 to 2023.

Job vacancies under the scheme will be uploaded to the website from March 20 after they are vetted by the Labour Department. The deadline for young people to apply for the jobs is September 30.
