102 mental health projects funded
The Government today announced the results of the second phase of the Mental Health Initiatives Funding Scheme, revealing that a total of about $175 million has been granted to 102 projects to enhance citizens’ mental well-being in the community through various services and programmes.
The Chief Executive announced in the 2020 Policy Address that $300 million would be earmarked under the Beat Drugs Fund to raise public awareness of mental health and provide better support to the needy in the community.
The funding scheme is implemented in two phases. The first phase was launched in July 2021.
In the second phase, a total of 121 applications were received. Approved projects will enhance citizens’ mental well-being in various areas, including support for carers and support for children and adolescents with special educational needs.
Other authorised projects aimed at improving people’s mental health comprise advice on strengthening family relationships, support for the elderly with mental health needs, and support for bereavement and grief management.
Such projects will start during March to May this year for a duration of 12 to 24 months.
