The Taxi Service Commendation Scheme 2022 is now open for public voting until April 7, the Transport Department said today.

People are welcome to cast their votes online or by scanning the QR code printed on the promotion pamphlets placed in taxi compartments for the “Quality Taxi Drivers” and “Good Driver, Good Service” awards.

The department said this year’s scheme received an enthusiastic response, with over 1,200 nominations for “Quality Taxi Drivers” and "Good Driver, Good Service" awards received. Among them, 70 nominees for the “Quality Taxi Drivers” award and eight nominees for the “Good Driver, Good Service” award were shortlisted for public voting.

At the same time, a professional assessment panel is responsible for evaluating the taxi drivers’ driving records, conduct, in-service training records, commended behaviour and passengers’ satisfaction levels.

Twenty nominees for the “Quality Taxi Drivers” award and two nominees for the “Good Driver, Good Service” award who obtain the highest combined scores from the public voting and professional assessment will win the prizes while the driver who obtains the highest score from the public voting will be the “Most Popular Taxi Driver”.

Meanwhile, the assessment panel evaluates taxi service management teams’ management on taxi service quality, application of advanced technology in enhancing the efficiency and quality of taxi service, and social responsibility. The taxi service management team obtaining the highest score will be given the “Quality Taxi Service Management Team” award.

The prize presentation ceremony will be held in mid-2023. Details will be announced in due course.

Co-organised by the Transport Department and the Committee on Taxi Service Quality, the Taxi Service Commendation Scheme aims to promote quality services and the taxi industry’s image.
