Toddler virus tests cancelled

January 18, 2023

Children aged three and below no longer need to present proof of a negative result of a COVID-19 nucleic acid test conducted within 48 hours prior to travelling from Hong Kong to the Mainland as of tomorrow.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government made the announcement today, following communication with the relevant Mainland authorities.

As for children coming to Hong Kong from the Mainland and any other place, exemption from the relevant testing requirement has been granted to those aged under three since June last year.

The updated arrangement will be gazetted so that the exemption will be applicable to young children aged three and below.

In other words, starting tomorrow, children aged three and below will no longer be required to undergo the 48-hour pre-departure nucleic acid test for travel from the Mainland to Hong Kong and vice versa.
