Youth orchestra annual concert set
The Music Office's Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra under the Leisure & Cultural Services Department will hold its annual concert titled “Modern & Classic” at 3pm on January 15 at the Cultural Centre.
It will be conducted by Music Office instructors Joseph Kam and Lee Sing-wan.
The concert programme includes Clifton Williams' Symphonic Dance No. 3, “Fiesta” overwhelmed with a Latin American vibe; the world premiere of local composer Kam Shing-hei's Sitātapatrā Mandala, a commissioned work sponsored by the Hong Kong Composers' Guild; Antonín Dvořák's mysterious symphonic poem The Noon Witch; and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36.
Since its establishment in 1978, the orchestra's membership has grown to about 100, with musicians ranging in age from 12 to 25.
Concert tickets are now available at URBTIX.
