36 new HK NPC deputies elected

The Conference for Electing Deputies of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the 14th National People's Congress held its second plenary session to elect 36 deputies at the Convention & Exhibition Centre today.

 

As the standing chairman of the presidium, Chief Executive John Lee hosted the session and announced the election result after the poll.

 

National People’s Congress Standing Committee Secretary-General Yang Zhenwu said the election was conducted strictly in accordance with the law and in an orderly manner. He stressed that it was an open, fair and just election.

 

He added that he believes the newly elected deputies will follow the previous deputies to love both the country and Hong Kong, to obey the Constitution and the Basic Law, and to fully and faithfully implement the principle of "one country, two systems".

 

According to the presidium, the election result has been reported to the National People’s Congress Standing Committee for eligibility review and announcement.
