The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department has requested the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) to submit a preliminary investigation report on this morning's MTR Tseung Kwan O Line train incident within three days.

The department noted that it is deeply concerned about the incident and immediately visited the scene to begin an investigation.

It also requested the MTRC to identify the cause of the incident as soon as possible.

In addition to submitting a preliminary investigation report within three days of the incident, the MTRC should complete the investigation and hand in a detailed report within two months.

The department added that the MTRC is required to provide in the report an account of the incident and its causes, its immediate incident handling as well as the improvement measures and implementation plan to ensure railway safety and prevent a recurrence of similar incidents.
