TKO Tunnel toll-free from Dec 11
The Tseung Kwan O Tunnel toll will be waived from midnight on December 11, the same day as when the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel will open at 8am, the Transport Department reminded the public today.
From midnight on December 11, motorists can drive through the original Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza without stopping and paying the toll.
Motorists are reminded that works will be carried out in phases in the toll plaza's vicinity starting from around 10pm on December 10, including the closing of some traffic lanes for shutting down toll booths, and modifying traffic signs and road markings.
During this period, temporary traffic lanes will be set up in the toll plaza's vicinity and the existing speed limit of 50km per hour will be maintained. Traffic signs and road markings will be set up on-site to guide motorists.
As traffic congestion at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel is anticipated, people are advised to use public transport and consider using railway services for travelling to or from Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O.
Motorists should allow sufficient travelling time, consider using alternative routes, exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the on-site staff’s instructions, the department added.
