The Harbourfront Commission and the Civil Engineering & Development Department hold the Fun Day of Shared Path along Victoria Harbour.

The Harbourfront Commission and the Civil Engineering & Development Department held the Fun Day of Shared Path along Victoria Harbour at the harbourfront promenade between Central and Wan Chai today.

The fun day promoted the shared-use cycle track (shared path) which has been implemented on a trial basis.

Cyclist Wong Kam-po and cycling coach Chau Dor-ming shared safety information on using the shared path at the kick-off session.

There were also artistic and unicycling performances as well as various activities on cycling-related experiences and games.

The department has implemented the first shared path at the promenade section between the Central Harbourfront Event Space and west of the Wan Chai Convention & Exhibition Centre since August on a trial basis for a year to collect data and feedback for facilities enhancement.

Bicycles are available for the public to rent for free using a mobile app at the bicycle stations at the shared path. More than 6,800 bike rentals have been recorded so far.

Different from the traditional cycle tracks, the path encourages pedestrians and cyclists to harmoniously share the spaces.
