BioNTech bivalent jab booking set

November 26, 2022

Eligible people aged 12 or above may choose to receive the BioNTech bivalent vaccine from December 1, and online reservations will open from 9am tomorrow.

Arriving in Hong Kong yesterday, the Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5 bivalent vaccine can be used as an alternative to the fourth dose for eligible people aged 12 or above following the current vaccination schedule, or it may serve as the third dose for those who have recovered from COVID-19.

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said vaccination venues providing the BioNTech bivalent vaccine include the community vaccination centres, community vaccination stations, hospital COVID-19 vaccination stations, the Hospital Authority’s designated general outpatient clinics and private clinic COVID-19 vaccination stations.

She pointed out that these venues will only provide the BioNTech bivalent jab to eligible people in accordance with health authorities' guidelines, while those who have not been vaccinated or received the suitable vaccine doses cannot choose to receive the bivalent vaccine.

Eligible people aged 60 or above with same-day tickets may choose the type of vaccine to be administered on site.

As the protection conferred by the vaccines will diminish over time, the Government called on citizens who have not received suitable vaccine doses to get them as soon as possible for self-protection, in particular high-risk people such as the elderly.
