CS unveils new mascot

November 24, 2022

Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki unveiled the new social enterprise (SE) mascot, Bloomy the Tree, at the Social Enterprise Summit 2022 opening ceremony today.

Mr Chan delivered a speech at the ceremony, noting that the Government is a promoter and facilitator for social innovation and entrepreneurship.

He pointed out that the Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Fund, which was launched in 2013, has supported over 430 ventures and projects, involving total funding of more than $500 million. Over 320,000 people in need, including children, the elderly, people with disabilities, grassroots families and ethnic minorities benefited.

Mr Chan said he hoped the new mascot would help promote social enterprises and encourage people to support the great work they do.

Bloomy the Tree will promote the philosophy of the enterprises through innovative thinking and assist in building a caring and vibrant society for the socially disadvantaged and the public.

The Home Affairs Department created Bloomy the Tree with the concept that he was developed from a tiny seed into a growing tree with the public's support and care. He strives to give back to society and helps SEs to grow from strength to strength, bringing joy, hope and opportunities to the socially disadvantaged.

The department also launched the SE Tree Mark programme to assist the public in identifying and supporting SEs in Hong Kong. It will continue to provide up-to-date information on SEs through its social media platforms.
