The second round of the Basic Law & National Security Law Test (BLNST) is scheduled for January 7, 2023, and application submissions are open from tomorrow to December 5, the Education Bureau announced today.

Target participants for the second round of the test are those who plan to join or change to another secondary school, primary school or kindergarten to take up a non-graduate teaching post.

Applications can be made through the bureau’s online application system from 9am tomorrow to 5pm on December 5. Limited places for the test will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Starting from the 2023-24 school year, all newly appointed teachers in public sector schools, Direct Subsidy Scheme schools and kindergartens joining the kindergarten education scheme must pass the BLNST in order to be considered for appointment.

The requirement applies to all teacher grade ranks, including principals.

The bureau is conducting five rounds of the BLNST for degree holders and non-degree holders separately in this school year.
