HK, SZ hold school principals’ forum

November 17, 2022

The Education Bureau (EDB) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau today co-organised the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals’ Forum to promote educational exchanges.

Addressing the forum, Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin noted that the National 14th Five-Year Plan had set out Hong Kong’s role and positioning in the country’s overall development, as well as the city’s room for growth and the opportunities in various areas of particular importance. She then pointed out that school management has the responsibility to facilitate teachers’ and students’ understanding of the blueprint for national development and Hong Kong’s positioning, and to help young people learn about the development trend of the country and the rest of the world.

This would enable them to fully understand the principle of “one country, two systems” and Hong Kong’s unique advantages, and enhance their sense of national pride, she added.

Moreover, the EDB would strengthen students’ understanding of Chinese history and Chinese culture, enable students to cultivate an affection for the country, and respect and safeguard the country’s fundamental systems out of their own volition, she stressed.

The EDB would join hands with the education sector in nurturing students to become people who are able and virtuous, with a sense of responsibility, vision, and love for the country and the city, and ready for future challenges and opportunities, the education chief added.
