Senior appointments announced
The Government today announced the appointments of the Commissioner for Labour and the Commissioner for Census & Statistics.
Deputy Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury (Financial Services) May Chan will take up the post of Commissioner for Labour on September 26.
On the same day, Deputy Commissioner for Census & Statistics Leo Yu will become commissioner when serving commissioner Marion Chan starts pre-retirement leave.
Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said the two appointees possess proven leadership and management skills and that she is confident they will serve the community with professionalism in their new posts and lead the departments concerned to meet the challenges ahead.
On Marion Chan’s retirement, Mrs Yeung said Ms Chan has served with professionalism and zeal and has made sustained efforts in enhancing the efficiency and service quality of the department.
“She completed a population census, which is conducted once every 10 years, amidst the COVID-19 epidemic. I wish her a fulfilling and happy retirement.”
