4.6k local COVID-19 cases logged

August 15, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 4,699 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,594 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 3,105 via verified rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 197 imported cases were reported and four more patients passed away.

The centre added that there were also 147 cases reported by 110 schools, involving 111 pupils and 36 staff.

Due to a number of positive cases, 57 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers eight specified premises in Cheung Sha Wan, Tuen Mun and Sha Tin where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection station at Hung Fuk Estate in Hung Shui Kiu tomorrow, and the mobile specimen collection station at Park Island in Ma Wan will be relocated to the open area outside Block 28.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas in Sai Kung, Tuen Mun, Wan Chai, Tai Po and Kwai Tsing districts, the respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
