5.1k local COVID-19 cases identified

August 13, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 5,148 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,839 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 3,309 via verified rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 160 imported cases were reported and three more patients passed away.

The centre added that two residential care homes for the elderly and one for disabled people identified infection cases.

Due to a number of positive cases, 65 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection station at Cheung Hong Estate in Tsing Yi tomorrow while the service period of the one located at On Yam Estate in Kwai Chung will be extended to August 15.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas in Eastern, North, Sai Kung, Yuen Long, Sham Shui Po and Wong Tai Sin districts, the Housing Department will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
