Jab service for children boosted

August 11, 2022

Starting August 15, the community vaccination centre at MTR Tsing Yi Station and the children community vaccination centre at Children's Hospital will concurrently provide vaccination service with the Sinovac and BioNTech vaccines, the Government announced today.

Reservations can be made online for the vaccination services at the two centres from 9am tomorrow.

Both vaccination centres currently provide the BioNTech vaccine only. Children's Hospital, apart from offering the BioNTech vaccination service to children aged 5 to 11, will also administer the Sinovac vaccine for children aged 6 months to 17 years.

Also starting from August 15, the Maternal & Child Health Centres under the Department of Health will provide the Sinovac vaccination service to children aged 6 months to 3 years when they receive regular services with bookings.

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said the Government hopes to make flexible and optimal use of existing facilities by practical and safe arrangements to provide more vaccination channels for the public's convenience and choice.

“The Government has introduced targeted measures for children and the elderly to enable parents to let their children receive COVID-19 vaccination while obtaining services at Maternal & Child Health Centres,” she added.

Parents should present the original copy of their children's birth certificate or juvenile identity card and bring the consent form signed by the parents on the date of vaccination. Children aged 6 months to 11 years must be accompanied by their parents or guardians when receiving vaccination.
