The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government firmly opposes any external forces interfering in the internal affairs of China and will fully support and facilitate all necessary measures by the central government to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Hong Kong SAR Government made the statement after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today eight countermeasures in response to the visit to Taiwan by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and imposed sanctions on her.

It will closely monitor developments and keep in contact with the relevant authorities of the central government, the statement added.
