4.2k local virus cases recorded

July 27, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 4,288 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,763 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 2,525 via rapid antigen tests that were verified.

Separately, 220 imported cases were reported. The centre added that 10 more patients passed away.

Four residential care homes recorded positive cases involving residents and staff.

There were also 482 virus cases reported by 371 schools. Six schools were subsequently advised to suspend face-to-face lessons for specific classes for a week. Meanwhile, due to suspected outbreaks involving school bus routes of two schools, people who took the relevant school buses must suspend themselves from face-to-face lessons.

Due to a number of positive cases, 58 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers six specified premises in Chai Wan, Tin Shui Wai, Wong Tai Sin and Tsz Wan Shan where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection stations at Wah Fu (II) Estate in Pok Fu Lam and Wang Tau Hom Estate in Lok Fu tomorrow.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas of Sai Kung, Sham Shui Po, Yau Tsim Mong and Central & Western districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
