Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho (second right) tours Fu Tip Estate, which is under construction, and receives an update of the project’s progress.

Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho today inspected a public rental housing (PRH) development project in Tai Po and visited Tsz Ching Estate in Tsz Wan Shan to learn about the distribution arrangements of COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) kits by the Housing Department in PRH estates.

Ms Ho toured Tai Po Area 9 this morning and was briefed by department staff on the PRH project's details and progress.

A total of eight buildings, Blocks 2 to 9 of Fu Tip Estate, are being constructed there to provide about 6,700 flats. Together with a public transport terminus and the estate's facilities, the project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2023.

The intake for Ban Tip House, Block 1 of the estate started in the fourth quarter of 2021, involving about 650 units.

Upon the project's completion, Fu Tip Estate will become the largest PRH project in Tai Po, offering homes to about 20,000 residents.

Ms Ho emphasised that housing is the utmost priority of the new-term Government.

Through close monitoring of construction progress, streamlining procedures, introducing innovative technology and welcoming views from the construction sector, the efficiency of housing production could be further enhanced, she said.

The housing chief then proceeded to the Tsz Ching Estate Office to learn about the arrangements and workflow of the distribution of RAT kits.

She also gave encouragement to frontline cleaning workers and property management staff and thanked them for their efforts in supporting the anti-epidemic work by enhancing the estate's cleaning and environmental hygiene.

As there were positive sewage test results in Wong Tai Sin, the department distributed about 65,000 RAT kits to residents, cleaning workers and property management staff in Tsz Ching Estate.
