Govt mourns Alex Law

Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung was saddened today to learn of the passing of famous film director Alex Law.

     

Mr Yeung said: "Alex had been contributing a lot to the local film industry and created a lot of classic popular films which are full of cultural ambiance. His directed film Echoes of the Rainbow (2010) received high acclaim and became the first Hong Kong film to win the Crystal Bear for Best Film in the Generation Kplus category at the Berlin International Film Festival."

 

Mr Law had also been active in promoting the Hong Kong film industry's development through various government initiatives, Mr Yeung added.

 

The culture chief extended his deepest condolences to Mr Law’s family and friends on behalf of the bureau.

 

Also mourning Mr Law, Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism and Film Development Council Vice-Chairman Joe Wong lauded the director's strong passion for film, his dedication to nurturing talent and his efforts in promoting Hong Kong film development over the years.
