2k local COVID-19 cases detected

July 2, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 2,084 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 714 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 1,370 via rapid antigen tests that were verified.

Separately, 143 imported cases were reported.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several public housing estates in Kowloon City, Wong Tai Sin and Tuen Mun districts, the Housing Department will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health has prohibited the landing of passenger flights in Hong Kong from Istanbul in Turkey operated by Turkish Airlines from July 3 to 7, as the number of passengers testing positive upon arrival of the airline’s flight TK070 from Istanbul on June 30 had reached the specified criterion for invoking the flight ban.
