2.1k local COVID-19 cases reported

July 1, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 2,165 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 761 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 1,404 via rapid antigen tests that were verified.

Separately, 153 imported cases were reported.

One more patient passed away, bringing the total number of deaths in the fifth wave of the epidemic to 9,189.

The centre added that four elderly care homes have identified new COVID-19 cases, involving two staff members and three residents.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several residential estates and buildings in Sha Tin, Central & Western and Eastern districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
