Honours announcement postponed

June 28, 2022

The Government today said the announcement of this year’s Honours List and Justices of the Peace (JPs) appointments will be postponed, as it is focusing on the preparatory work for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and related activities.

The Government said the two annual lists are normally gazetted on Hong Kong SAR Establishment Day on July 1, but it had in the past decided to announce the lists on a different date due to special circumstances such as the pandemic.

Honours and awards are granted to individuals in recognition of their significant contributions to the Hong Kong SAR or their dedicated public and community service.

JPs are named under the Justices of the Peace Ordinance with the main function of visiting custodial institutions or detention centres.

This year's Honours List and JPs appointments will be announced at an appropriate time.
