Senior appointments announced

The Government today announced a number of senior appointments, many of which will be effective from July 1.

 

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip said the appointees are seasoned administrative officers with proven leadership and management skills.

 

“I have every confidence that they will continue to serve the community with professionalism in their new posts.”

 

On July 1, Permanent Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development (Commerce, Industry & Tourism) Eliza Lee will assume the post of Permanent Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development; Permanent Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development (Communications & Creative Industries) Clement Leung will take up the post of Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service.

 

Permanent Secretary for Food & Health (Food) Vivian Lau will be Permanent Secretary for Environment & Ecology (Food), while Permanent Secretary for Food & Health (Health) Thomas Chan will be Permanent Secretary for Health.

 

Permanent Secretary for Transport & Housing (Transport) Mable Chan will become Permanent Secretary for Transport & Logistics, and Permanent Secretary for Transport & Housing (Housing)/Director of Housing Agnes Wong will become Permanent Secretary for Housing/Director of Housing.

 

Permanent Secretary for the Environment/Director of Environmental Protection Janice Tse will be Permanent Secretary for Environment & Ecology (Environment)/Director of Environmental Protection.

 

Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Joe Wong will be Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism.

 

In addition, Permanent Secretary for Innovation & Technology Annie Choi will become Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry on July 1. On July 20, her post will be taken up by Celebrations Co-ordination Office Director Eddie Mak as she will have begun pre-retirement leave by then.

 

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary, Chief Executive’s Office Shirley Lam will assume the post of Permanent Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs on July 1. Secretary-General of the Chief Executive-elect’s Office Daniel Cheng will then become Permanent Secretary, Chief Executive’s Office on the same day.

 

Director of Broadcasting Patrick Li will assume the post of Permanent Secretary for Security next month, the Government added.

 

It also announced that the Department of Justice’s Director of Administration & Development Gracie Foo will become Permanent Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs on July 15 as Roy Tang will go on pre-retirement leave.

 

In the fourth quarter of this year, Policy Innovation & Co-ordination Office Head Doris Ho will take up the post of Permanent Secretary for Development (Planning & Lands).

 

Mr Nip wished Mr Tang and Ms Choi a fulfilling and happy retirement.
