Over 1.3k COVID-19 cases identified

June 22, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 1,323 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 583 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 740 via rapid antigen tests which were verified.

Separately, 124 imported cases were reported.

The centre also received notifications of 190 positive cases from 165 schools, comprising 159 students and 31 staff.

Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Block 10, Melody Garden in Tuen Mun, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

Due to a number of positive cases, 26 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also includes four buildings where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at Hing Wah (I) Estate in Chai Wan, Grand Garden in Repulse Bay, Fu Keung Court in Lok Fu, Lei Muk Shue Estate in Tsuen Wan and the open area near Discovery Bay Fire Station tomorrow.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several housing estates in Kwai Tsing and Sai Kung, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
