Chief Executive-elect John Lee (second row, left) meets New People’s Party legislators.

Chief Executive-elect John Lee met New People's Party legislators today to gauge their views on the new-term Government concerning issues ranging from district management, fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, financial development and tourism.

During the meeting, Mr Lee talked about the proposed reorganisation of the government structure, saying the proposals would ensure clearer policy ownership across bureaus, generate greater synergies and enhance co-ordination and leadership for strengthening the Government's governance efficiency.

He added that a representative of the Office of the Chief Executive-elect would attend the meeting of the Legislative Council Subcommittee to Study the Proposal for Reorganising the Government Structure & Related Matters tomorrow to explain the proposal and address legislators' questions.

In addition to obtaining support for the proposals from members of the council, Mr Lee expressed hope that the relevant legislative and funding procedures will be completed by mid-June so that the new government structure could take effect on July 1.
