JoyYou Card opens for more seniors

May 16, 2022

The Government announced that eligible Hong Kong residents aged 65 or above should apply for the JoyYou Card from June 1, 2022, to the end of October 2023.

The JoyYou Card enables those residents to continue to enjoy concessionary fares under the Government Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly & Eligible Persons with Disabilities.

Applicants should submit their applications via the Octopus App or by posting the application forms in accordance with the timetable.

The dedicated service hotline 3147 1388 facilitates enquiries by elderly people and their carers.

From June 1, 2022, distribution points for paper application forms will be increased to over 540.

The Government will subsidise the $20 administrative fee for the first application.

After the issuance of JoyYou Cards to beneficiaries aged 65 or above, the Government will cease the existing arrangement of covering Anonymous Elder Octopus Cards and Personalised Octopus Cards in the $2 Scheme and all eligible people must use JoyYou Cards to benefit from the $2 Scheme.

The Government launched its enhancement and anti-abuse measures for the $2 Scheme on February 27, 2022, including lowering the eligible age from 65 to 60 and requiring people aged 60 to 64 to use the JoyYou Card to enjoy the $2 concessionary fare.
