New transport interchange to open

May 13, 2022

To facilitate the commissioning of the East Rail Line cross-harbour extension on May 15, the Exhibition Centre Station Public Transport Interchange will start operation tomorrow.

The new interchange will replace the Wan Chai North Temporary Public Transport Interchange on Hung Hing Road, and the 17 bus routes currently terminating there will be relocated to the new interchange on the same day.

From May 15, New World First Bus will operate a new circular route No. 1M going between the Exhibition Centre Station interchange and Wong Nai Chung Gap to provide a feeder service.

The existing cross-harbour bus route No. 301, which almost completely duplicates the new railway service area, will be cancelled.

The Transport Department has formulated a public transport service adjustment plan and will implement the adjustment proposals in phases according to the actual demand situation.

It reminded the travelling public to reserve sufficient time to familiarise themselves with the new railway station and rail service arrangements, and pay attention to the latest traffic news.

The department’s Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre will enhance monitoring of the transport and traffic conditions on May 16, the first normal working and school day after the East Rail Line cross-harbour extension opens.
