10k driver subsidy set
The Transport Department today said it plans to post crossed cheques of $10,000 each in a one-off non-accountable subsidy to eligible Hong Kong cross-boundary goods vehicle drivers starting April.
The Government announced earlier the provision of a one-off subsidy to each eligible Hong Kong cross-boundary goods vehicle driver under the Anti-epidemic Fund to tide them over the difficult operating environment.
About 11,000 cross-boundary goods vehicle drivers are expected to benefit from this measure.
The subsidy would be disbursed to each eligible driver in the form of a crossed cheque according to the department’s records. Drivers are not required to submit an application.
The crossed cheques would be mailed to the correspondence address kept by the department as reported by the drivers when they applied for various licensing services.
For relevant drivers whose addresses provided to the department’s Licensing Office have changed, they or their agents, including their transportation companies should update the department by March 31, to avoid delay.
