Patrick Nip urges public to get jabs

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip (centre) visits the children community vaccination centre at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre which provides the BioNTech vaccination service for those aged five to 11.
Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip said the current epidemic situation is of grave concern, noting that the most pressing matter of the moment is to receive COVID-19 vaccination.
The Civil Service Bureau is boosting the vaccination rate by increasing the venues for COVID-19 vaccination and mobilising private medical healthcare personnel to participate in administering the vaccine, facilitating the public to make use of different venues to obtain protection given by the vaccine.
The third and fourth mobile vaccination stations set up by the Government commenced operation today.
Mr Nip visited Tai Yuen Estate in Tai Po today to view the first day operation of the fourth mobile vaccination station. He also visited the children community vaccination centre (CCVC) in Tsuen Wan Sports Centre providing the BioNTech vaccine to children aged 5 to 11 starting from today.
He said the vaccination rate of Hong Kong's population aged 12 or above will reach 90% but the vaccination rate of the elderly and children remains very much the focus of the Government's concern.
The Government is focusing on providing convenience to children and the elderly in receiving vaccination and setting up the vaccination centres dedicated to them.
Mr Nip appeal to parents to arrange for their children to receive vaccination as soon as possible. He also appeals for care to be taken of whether family members and seniors are getting all three doses on time.
Meanwhile, the third mobile vaccination station at Tai Hing Estate in Tuen Mun provides service to residents from today.
In addition to serving at various public housing estates, the mobile vaccination stations will also visit schools to expedite the provision of COVID-19 vaccination to eligible students.
Only one type of vaccine is provided at the mobile vaccination stations each time.
The mobile jab stations operate from 10am to 5pm. People can make prior bookings by calling 5193 0375 or use walk-in services.
On the date of vaccination, parents or guardians of the children must accompany them in person, and bring a duly signed consent form.
As the BioNTech vaccine for children requires a special dilution procedure, children aged five to 11 must receive the BioNTech vaccine at the CCVCs.
