New jab centre for seniors, kids set

February 17, 2022

A dedicated community vaccination centre (CVC) will be set up at Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway Bay from February 23 to provide the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccination service for people aged three to 17 and those aged 60 or above, the Government announced.

The centre will operate daily from 8am to 8pm, and will be closed between 1.30pm and 2.30pm for cleaning.

Online reservations can be made starting from 9am on February 21. Same-day tickets will also be distributed at the centre to children, teenagers and senior citizens.

Noting that the current epidemic situation is of grave concern, Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip said children and elderly people are the focus of protection as severe and death cases involving these two groups of people have been recorded.

He appealed to parents or guardians of their children and family members of the elderly to make bookings for them to receive vaccination as early as possible.

Children and teenagers can receive the Sinovac jab at CVCs, five student health service centres under the Department of Health, the Hospital Authority's designated general outpatient clinics, or through more than 1,000 private doctors or clinics.

Those who have chosen the BioNTech vaccine must get their jab at three children CVCs. The centres at Hong Kong Children's Hospital and Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre have started operation, while the one at Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong will operate from February 24.

For senior citizens, they can get vaccinated at CVCs, the authority's designated general outpatient clinics, COVID-19 vaccination stations at hospitals, mobile vaccination stations, or through private doctors or clinics.

They can also opt for the walk-in Sinovac vaccination service at 15 elderly health centres under the Department of Health.
