Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip (left) chats with a member of the public who was vaccinated at the community vaccination centre at the Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip visited the community vaccination centre at the Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre today to inspect its first day of operation in the Year of the Tiger.

Mr Nip learnt more about the views of people who had received vaccination there and thanked the medical and administrative support staff for their dedicated efforts to serve the public.

He said 12 community vaccination centres are open in advance to provide jab services to the public on the third day of the Lunar New Year and more vaccination venues will resume operation tomorrow.

Mr Nip noted that there are cases that tested positive for COVID-19 with an unknown source of infection in some districts and that regardless of the districts people live in, vaccination is the best way for them to protect themselves.

The Lunar New Year period is also an opportune time for vaccination, he added.

The civil service chief appealed to those who have not been vaccinated yet to do so as early as possible for self-protection.

He also urged the public to make vaccination appointments for the elderly in their families as soon as possible.

To assist seniors in receiving the jab, people aged 60 or above are accorded the same-day ticket service at community vaccination centres.
