Social distancing extended to Feb 17

January 31, 2022

The Government today announced that the existing social distancing measures will be extended for another 14 days from this Friday until February 17.

In view of the severe COVID-19 epidemic situation, the Chief Executive announced on January 27 the extension of the current set of social distancing measures for two weeks, with the aim of reducing public traffic in the community to prevent a mass outbreak.

The cessation of dine-in services at catering businesses from 6pm to 4.59am will remain unchanged, while most scheduled premises will continue to suspend operations.

The Government noted that Hong Kong has been continuously recording cases with unknown infection sources and sewage samples collected in various districts have tested positive for the virus, reflecting the existence of silent transmission chains in the community.

Although the Chinese New Year is a traditional festival for celebrations among relatives and friends, citizens are urged to stay at home as far as possible and avoid gatherings to protect public health.
