The Environmental Protection Department today announced it recorded 57 convictions for pollution offences in December last year.

Eight were for air pollution, one for noise and three for water pollution.

There were also 26 under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation and 19 under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.

The heaviest fine for the month was $17,000 given to a company for discharging waste or polluting matter into a water control zone.
