Children's COVID-19 jabs set

January 20, 2022

Children aged five to 11 can receive the Sinovac vaccine from tomorrow with a reservation service starting from 8am, the Government announced today.

Reservations for BioNTech vaccination can be made from February 9 while the jab service will start on February 16.

From 8am tomorrow, parents or guardians can make reservations for children to receive the Sinovac vaccine at the community vaccination centres (CVCs) or Hospital Authority’s designated general outpatient clinics through the dedicated website.

They should accompany the children to receive the vaccine in person and bring a duly signed consent form.

From tomorrow, parents or guardians can call 2856 9133 during office hours to reserve the Sinovac vaccination service for their children at five student health service centres (SHSCs).

Eligible people can also make an appointment to receive the Sinovac jab through more than 1,000 private doctors or clinics.

An interval of 28 days is required for children to receive the first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine, same as for adults.

Meanwhile, three children community vaccination centres will be set up for them to receive the BioNTech vaccine. Reservations can be made through the designated website from February 9.

Two of these centres, in Hong Kong Children’s Hospital and the multipurpose arena at Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre, will come into service from February 16. The third one at Gleneagles Hospital will begin service from February 24.

Children cannot receive the BioNTech vaccine elsewhere.

The Government will provide a special appointment service for schools at the CVCs, SHSCs and children CVCs, as well as a transport service from and to schools.
