Housing Department staff check the test records of residents subject to compulsory testing in the Kwai Chung restricted area covering Yat Kwai House of Kwai Chung Estate.

The Government announced that a preliminary positive COVID-19 case was detected in the restricted area in Kwai Chung, while the test result of a specimen collected in the Sham Shui Po restricted area has not yet been verified.

It made restriction-testing declarations yesterday evening, requiring people in three specified areas to stay in their premises and undergo mandatory testing.

The areas covered Yat Kwai House, Kwai Chung Estate in Kwai Chung, Fu Yuet House, Fu Cheong Estate in Sham Shui Po and Tower 3, Grand Central in Kwun Tong, where 2,581, 2,259 and about 830 people were tested.

The preliminary positive case identified in Yat Kwai House has been sent to a hospital and relevant close contacts have been sent to a quarantine centre for follow-up.

Meanwhile, the test result of a specimen taken from a resident in Fu Yuet House is still under verification.

Other people subject to compulsory testing have tested negative for COVID-19, the Government said.

In the subsequent enforcement operations, about 2,200 people's test records were checked. Twelve people were found to have not undergone testing and were issued with a compulsory testing order.

Government staff also visited households in the three areas, of which about 260 did not answer the door. Such households are urged to contact the Government promptly to arrange testing.

According to the compulsory testing notices issued yesterday, those who had stayed in these three buildings within a specified period for more than two hours must undergo testing by tomorrow even if they were not in the restricted areas when the declarations took effect.
