The Department of Justice today appealed to the public to stay alert to a fraudulent email purported to be sent by the Secretary for Justice.

The email carried a suspected link to a malicious file and claimed to be sent by “Ms Teresa Cheng, GBM, GBS, SC, JP, Secetary (sic) to The Honourable Chief Justice Andrew Cheung Kui-nung GBM”.

The department clarified that it has no connection to that email and has reported the case to Police for further investigation.

It reminded the public not to open any suspicious email, and advised anyone who has provided personal information to this email sender or clicked the link in the email to contact Police.
