The Housing Authority today said rents for 9,415 flats in nine blocks at two new public rental housing estates in Tuen Mun, to be completed between March and June, have been set at the best rent level in the district.

The best monthly rent in Tuen Mun, at $62.4 per sq m, will apply to 4,232 flats in Wo Hei House, Wo Sin House, Wo Choi House and Wo Lai House of Wo Tin Estate, as well as 5,183 flats in Ching Shun House, Ching Sum House, Ching Lok House, Ching Hay House and Ching Sin House of Ching Tin Estate.

Under this rent-fixing exercise, the rents for all the flats are less than $2,500 per month.

The authority noted that the rents are heavily subsidised and are inclusive of rates, management fees and maintenance costs.

Those who are allocated new flats but cannot afford the rents may request refurbished flats at lower rents or apply for assistance under the Rent Assistance Scheme, it added.
