Exit poll organisations named

December 17, 2021

The Registration & Electoral Office today announced that it has granted approval for two organisations to conduct exit polls at designated polling stations during the 2021 Legislative Council General Election.

They are i-Cable News and the Hong Kong Research Association. The detailed information is available on the election website and will be displayed at relevant polling stations this Sunday.

The office reminded electors that participation in exit polls is wholly voluntary and it is their right to keep votes secret.

The interviewing bodies are required to make a statutory declaration not to announce or disclose the information and results of their exit polls before the close of the poll.

Furthermore, all approved exit poll interviewers must wear an identification badge that clearly shows the identity of the organisation conducting the poll and the name of the interviewer.

Along with preventing the spread of COVID-19 by maintaining sufficient social distance with the electors, the interviewers should not speak to or communicate with the candidates or their agents there.

The office also pointed out that interviews are not allowed inside polling stations.

It added that the Government has not commissioned any person or organisation to conduct the exit polls.
