Olympians stage demonstrations

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department said the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Mainland Olympians staged sports demonstrations for the public today and chatted with local athletes.

 

The Mainland Olympians delegation gave badminton, fencing, gymnastics and table tennis demos at Queen Elizabeth Stadium and diving and swimming presentations at Victoria Park Swimming Pool.

 

The special occasion attracted around 3,400 citizens to watch as spectators.

 

Chief Secretary John Lee and Secretary for Home Affairs Caspar Tsui also viewed the exhibitions at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

 

Besides giving sports demonstrations, the Mainland Olympians in badminton, gymnastics, fencing and table tennis took part in skills exchanges with their Hong Kong counterparts.

 

At the swimming and diving events, the Mainland Olympians in diving, swimming, rowing and canoeing had a friendly chat with local young athletes.

 

Both demonstrations featured lucky draws aimed at picking lucky spectators who were awarded souvenirs autographed by the Mainland Olympians.
